Routing to an Additional Port Segment
A Logix5000 includes an option that enables you to route data to and from serialized modules, if field device hardware is configured to do so. Such modules might merely be specialized cards in slots on a local field device, like a ProSoft module. But they could also be an external child controller.
Each segment represents a node in the series. For example, if you want data to derive from a module that is chained to the main CPU but has one other module in between itself and the CPU, add two segments: providing the port of the sending module and the address of the end-point module.
An alternate way to access ProSoft module data is by connecting directly to the module's communication port rather than daisy-chaining through a parent Logix5000 CPU. If you choose to access a ProSoft module directly, use the ProSoft EIE instead of the Allen Bradley CIP EIE to consume its data.
Each port segment is made up of the comm port through which to leave a node and the link address of the next node in the routing path. If you select 1, data derives from that segment address. If you select 2, data passes through the first segment and derives from the second segment address.
To Route to an Additional Port Segment
- Open the applicable CygNet SCADA remote device and go to its Device page.
- Specify route settings.
- Go to the Route information group box.
- In the Segment count drop-down list, select the number of port segments you want to add to the remote device.
- For each Segment #n that is available for editing, provide a Port value and an Address value.
- Address: Link address value of the additional segment. Could be an integer address or an IP address.
- Port: Comm port through which to leave a node.
- Click Apply to save settings.
- When you are finished, click OK to save changes.
